Reliance Jio is reportedly preparing to launch its first Jio 5G Phone, aiming to offer affordable 5G connectivity to millions of users across India. The phone is expected to be priced aggressively while including modern features like Android OS, large display, and long battery life.
Clean and Practical Design With Polycarbonate Body
Leaks suggest the Jio 5G phone will feature a minimalist design with a plastic back, flat edges, and basic color options like Black and Blue. It may include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and a durable matte finish for daily use.
6.5-Inch HD+ Display With Standard Refresh Rate
The Jio 5G phone is likely to offer a 6.5-inch HD+ display, suitable for video streaming, calling, and social media use. While the refresh rate might be limited to 60Hz, the panel will be tuned for brightness and battery efficiency.
Powered by Unisoc or Snapdragon Entry-Level 5G Chipset
The phone is expected to run on a Unisoc 5G SoC or Snapdragon 480+, depending on final hardware. Combined with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, it will deliver sufficient performance for basic tasks and Jio’s 5G network compatibility.
Dual Rear Camera With AI Scene Detection
The camera setup may include a 13MP main rear sensor paired with a 2MP depth or macro lens, along with a 5MP selfie camera. Jio could integrate AI-based image enhancement, portrait mode, and night filters via its custom camera app.
5000mAh Battery With 18W Charging
A 5000mAh battery is expected, ensuring full-day usage on 5G with optimized power management. The phone will likely support 18W fast charging via USB Type-C and offer standard battery saver modes built into the Android system.
Android OS With Lightweight Jio UI
Jio’s 5G phone will run a lightweight version of Android 13 or 14, optimized with Jio’s own apps like MyJio, JioCinema, JioSaavn, and JioMeet. The interface will be clean, and Jio may offer monthly software updates and data-saving features.
Jio 5G Phone Could Be a Game-Changer for Affordable 5G in India
With 5G connectivity, stock Android, a large battery, and value-focused hardware, the Jio 5G phone is expected to accelerate India’s transition to 5G by making it accessible to every household. It will especially benefit first-time smartphone users, students, and rural users looking for an upgrade.
